The Road to Success: An Inside Look at Modern Adventure Pro Cycling's Journey
Last updated: October 18, 2025, 10:05 AM
Building a cycling team from the ground up is no small feat, and we're excited to provide an update on our progress at Modern Adventure Pro Cycling. Since our initial announcement, we've been working tirelessly to bring this ambitious project to life. With a clear understanding of the challenges ahead, our management team embraced the mantra, 'The best way to begin is to begin,' and we've been putting in the work ever since.
Team founder George Hincapie is thrilled with the collaboration and dedication shown by everyone involved. He emphasizes the immense effort put into this venture, from countless hours of hard work to tough decisions along the way. But he has complete faith in our leadership team, who have consistently stepped up and demonstrated their commitment to building a lasting legacy.
"When you're surrounded by a team that shares your vision and isn't afraid to grind, you know you're on the right track," Hincapie said. "Modern Adventure Pro Cycling is in capable hands, and I'm proud of the achievements we've unlocked together so far."
Our new US squad aims to maintain a strong presence in the domestic scene while also showcasing 50%-60% American riders at the Pro Team level, with a minimum of 20 competitors. This led us to focus initially on recruiting the right riders.
Identifying Emerging Talent: A Strategic Decision
Many top American pros are already established in Europe, racing for well-known teams, and their salaries are beyond our current budget. So, we entrusted our talented director sportif group, consisting of Ty Magner, Alex Howes, and Joey Rosskoph, with the crucial task of identifying our riders based on their expertise and close connections to the US cycling scene.
After several weeks of careful evaluation, we're proud to announce that we've successfully signed 20 riders to the team. We believe we've struck a perfect balance between youthful energy and experienced wisdom, and we're excited to support these riders to the best of our abilities in 2026 and beyond.
Behind the scenes, our team has been working diligently on various tasks, including UCI registration, hiring support staff, securing equipment sponsors, and arranging vehicles and a service course in Girona, Spain. While we won't bore you with the nitty-gritty details of the countless hours of work, meetings, and decision-making, rest assured that significant progress is being made.
General manager Rich Hincapie is encouraged by the team's approach and progress so far. He believes that lasting success is rooted in the people, not just performance metrics. Our selection process for both riders and staff prioritizes personality, values, and cultural fit over short-term results. With the right environment and structure, we know that exceptional performance will naturally follow.
"Over the past several months, our leadership team has been in constant communication, carefully evaluating each individual to ensure they embody the spirit and purpose of our program," Hincapie said. "We've focused on assembling a group that thrives on collaboration, integrity, and shared ambition. This deliberate process has laid the foundation not just for winning races, but for building a culture that stands the test of time."
A Transatlantic Approach: Europe Meets the USA
As a young organization, we understand that mistakes will be made, but we're committed to listening, learning, and adapting to any challenges that arise. With dedicated individuals driving our organization forward, we're preparing to build a team that is exciting, inspirational, and respected, step by step.
We're also diligently planning our race calendar and rider programs for 2026. Our strategy is to focus on one race program in Europe at a time while maintaining a strong presence in the USA domestic scene. Running race programs on different continents simultaneously is a daunting task, even for seasoned teams, so our main objective is to prioritize progression over perfection.
We're grateful for the positive reception our long-term project has received from the cycling community, but we know there's still much work to be done. Our focus remains on maintaining a positive image, professionalism, and having fun while performing at our best level consistently.
Our riders are our top priority. We plan to implement cutting-edge programs, protocols, and procedures both on and off the bike to provide them with the tools they need to succeed. Together with our sponsors, partners, and fans, we aim to support our riders' dreams in professional cycling and their daily lives, knowing that winners often toil in the shadows.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue on this exciting journey!
